My favorite Firefox extensions…what are yours?

Filed under: General Blogging — dtrask @ 2:39 pm

Let’s face it, I’m a Firefox fan. IE does nothing for me except give me headaches. On the rare occasion that I might have to use IE (in Windows) I use an excellent Firefox extension that keeps me from getting my hands dirty by click on IE….it’s called IE Tab. I highly recommend it. You can simply right-click on a link that you would like to open in IE and it will open using IE as the “engine” while still keeping you in Firefox. This extension is handy for those few sites that frustrate me by refusing to work in anything but IE. So….how’s the weather? I always know (for example, it’s 40 degrees and partly sunny) because I can simply look down in the lower right corner of my Firefox browser at Forecast Fox. Forecast Fox is very configurable and also features a handy little radar map image. Need to upload something or download something from a server? I do this a lot. I hate having to get out of Firefox, launch an FTP client such as the free and open source Filezilla and then download/upload a file. I use a fantastic and useful extension called “FireFTP”. Want a delicious way to keep you bookmarks organized and share them with others? Del.icio.us is a social bookmarking site….very cool….and now you can add an extension in Firefox to make it even easier to use! Del.icio.us Bookmarks is a great extension for tagging sites and sharing them with your network of friends. Are you an information junkie? Do you have a gazillion subscriptions to RSS feeds, but no great way to view them? If so, then Sage may be the answer for you. It’s a very good RSS reader for Firefox. Last is the extension I am using to write this blog post! If you are a blogger then you really should check this out. Performancing is a blog posting extension. You can configure it to your blog to quickly blog items and post them. I have found it to be very handy and full-featured. It’s fast and easy…and that’s what I’m all about. You can find these and more extensions by clicking on “Tools” > “add-ons” in Firefox 2.0. I also recommend checking the Firefox recommended extensions page “Click Here” to find some of the best extensions to enhance your browsing experience. One of the best things about Firefox is that it’s Open Source and cross-platform….so regardless of whether you have a Mac, Windows, or Linux machine you can use most if not all of these extensions!

Do you have some fave extensions? Let us know in the comments below! 🙂
